If you do not agree to be bound by the Policies, please immediately discontinue your use of the Site.
Please know that we may amend this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use at any time and from time to time. Each time you use or visit the Site, you will be deemed to have accepted any such changes. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected through the Site and not to information collected or obtained from other sources. See “Links to Other Sites” below.
We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users. In order to operate the Site, we collect certain information. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect, what we do with it, with whom we share it, and how you can correct or change such information.
A portion of the Site is restricted to INBLF Members (“Members”). Additional and alternative terms and conditions and privacy terms apply to that portion of the Site. See Section 8 below and Section 7 of the Terms of Use for additional terms applicable to the Members’ area of the Site.
The Types of Information We Collect
Personal Information: Personally Identifiable Information (“Personal Information”) is any information that can be used to identify a specific individual. The Site will collect and store any Personal Information you enter into the Site or provide to us in some other manner. Such Personal Information may include, without limitation, your name and email address when you use our Contact Us feature.
Aggregate and Anonymous Data: Aggregate and anonymous data is information collected automatically through the operation of the Site, as well as certain Personal Information which we aggregate and use in a manner that does not identify you personally (“AA Data”). We may collect usage data (such as which pages of the Site you visit and in what sequence) through the use of various technologies. For example, we may collect IP addresses from individuals who access the Site. We do not link IP addresses to any Personal Information, so although your session may be logged, you will remain anonymous to us. During some visits, we may use software tools, such as Javascript and/or Google Analytics, to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, time spent on certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page.
See Section 5 below.
Use of Cookies and Similar Technologies
Like many providers of Internet services, we may use “cookies” or other similar technologies to collect AA Data. Cookies allow us to measure traffic activity throughout the Site and to improve your user experience. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your web browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent, but it is possible that some parts of the Site will not function properly if you do so.
In addition, we may use a service that collects data remotely by using so-called “pixel tags,” “web beacons,” “clear GIFs” or similar means (collectively, “Pixel Tags”) embedded in website content. A Pixel Tag is an electronic image, often a single pixel (1×1), that is ordinarily not visible to site visitors and may be associated with cookies on the visitors’ hard drives. This information is AA Data.
Our Use of The Information We Collect From You
Personal Information: We will use your Personal Information to respond to inquiries from you or to protect against or identify possible fraudulent transactions, and otherwise as needed to manage our business.
AA Data: We may also use Personal Information in aggregate form for purposes of research or analysis. Although this aggregated data may be based in part on Personal Information, it does not identify you personally. We may share this type of AA Data with a variety of third parties, including our affiliates, agents, research partners and current and prospective business partners. We may use AA Data collected from the Site for administration, advertising and promotional purposes, and we may share such information with various affiliated and unaffiliated entities for such purposes.
Sharing Your Personal Information
Except as stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not disclose your Personal Information to third parties without first informing you and giving you the opportunity to opt out of having your Personal Information shared.
We may disclose your Personal Information to third parties without informing you in connection with the following:
• Business-related Functions: The INBLF, like many businesses, may hire other companies to perform certain services on our behalf such as hosting specific portions of the Site or maintaining databases. When we employ a third party to perform these functions, that third party will be provided with the particular Personal Information it needs to perform its function.
• Other Disclosures: In addition, we may disclose Personal Information without providing you with the ability to opt out under the following limited circumstances: to (1) protect the legal rights, privacy or safety of the INBLF, its affiliates or their respective members, officers, directors, employees and agents; (2) protect the safety and security of other users of the Site; (3) protect against fraud or other illegal activity or for risk management purposes; (4) respond to inquiries or requests from public authorities; (5) permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; (6) enforce our Policies; or (7) comply with the law or legal process. 5. Links to Other Sites
The Site may also contain links to other sites that may not follow the same privacy policy as the INBLF. Links to other sites may use our logo or style as a result of a co-branding agreement. These sites may send their own cookies to you and may collect data and make use of that data in ways that we would not. Once you’ve left the Site, this Privacy Policy will no longer apply to Personal Information or any other data collected from or provided by you on another site. You should check the applicable privacy policy to determine how that site will handle such data.
6. Your Choices
If you have previously provided Personal Information to the INBLF and are receiving emails or other communications from us and you do not want to continue receiving such emails, please notify us by contacting us at: [email protected]. If you ask that we stop using your Personal Information, we will take reasonable steps to honor that request on a prospective basis.
7. Our Commitment to Data Security
We take reasonable security precautions to secure the Personal Information that you choose to provide against the loss, misuse, alteration or unauthorized access of such information. Unfortunately, no transmission of data over the Internet is guaranteed to be completely secure. It may be possible for third parties, not under the control of the INBLF, to intercept or access transmissions or private communications unlawfully. While we strive to protect your Personal Information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any Personal Information you transmit to us. Any such transmission is done at your own risk. If you believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please notify us of the problem by contacting us at [email protected]. If we learn of a security systems breach, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. We may post a notice on the Site if a security breach occurs. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing. To receive a free written notice of a security breach you should notify us at the above email address.
8. Additional Privacy Terms Applicable to Members’ Area of the Site.
We collect the following Personal Information via the Network:
When you set up your account to access the Network, we will record your username and password and the email address you provide to us.
When you personalize your INBLF Network Profile, we will collect any information you provide, such as your name or photos you choose for your display picture. For some members, this information appears on the public portion of the Site as well as the Network.
When you post any content to the Network (such posting is referred to as a “User Submission”), the User Submission is available for some or all of the INBLF members, depending on how and where this information was posted by you (see Use of Information below).
The idea behind the Network is that the members of our community can share information, knowledge and professional business relationships. Therefore, you should assume that any information that you enter or post to the Network (with the exception of your username or password) can be openly shared on the Network with other Members. Depending on where you post your information, you may be able to further specify which Members or group of Members will be able to have access to this information. Please be aware that, while every effort is made to restrict the User Submission to the group or Members for whom it is designated, that restriction cannot be guaranteed against unintentional error or malfunction. Also please be aware that the INBLF has no control over the further dissemination of any User Submission by any Member. Please do not share confidential materials (especially potentially sensitive attorney client materials) via the Network or send sensitive private messages to another Member; if you choose to do so, you are assuming full risk for any and all consequences. Furthermore, pursuant to the Terms of Use, you “agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless, the INBLF and its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to reasonable attorney’s fees) due to or arising out of your use of the Site in violation of these Terms of Use.”
